Having previously only owned an extremely amenable Rag Doll cat (Bruce), our early experience of Maine Coon ownership was a steep learning curve and quickly demonstrated the need for us to upskill to ensure we kept both in optimal condition. This was proved when going on holiday for 2 weeks and returning to find both cats badly matted and infested with fleas.

As we had little grooming experience and 2 very angry cats, we felt in need of expert help to get things sorted! This was no mean feat, as there was nobody qualified and competent within our locality and we had to travel a significant distance! After we had seen a cat groomer, we decided to go on a short course to learn how to safely groom them both at home and this introduction led to a 2 year training diploma to start our own cat grooming salon. Our training was undertaken with a wonderful team of experts at Absolutely Animals in South East London.
