Our FAQs

Got a question? You’re not the only one! Here are some of the things we’re most often asked – hopefully they’ll help, but if you’re still unsure, just get in touch.

If we don't manage to cover it here, check out our blog - The Feline Files for lots of helpful tips or shoot us a message via our contact page.

As you may know, cats can cause a lot of damage to our skin with a simple scratch and therefore we trim nails for the Health & Safety of our groomers. This service is provided for all our feline visitors and we are also able to ensure that nails and feet are healthy during trimming.

A simple Groom Out can take approximately an hour and a half for an appointment. We allow regular breaks if your cat is slightly stressed and will keep in touch with you by phone if your appointment is likely to be longer because of this.

We ask that you take food away from your cat approximately 2 hours before your appointment which helps prevent the risk of an upset tummy in their basket. We also ask that you bring your cat into the salon in a secure basket for their appointment.

The simple answer to this question is no, as we understand the smell of dogs in the same environment can provoke a stress reaction with your cat. Therefore, we are a strictly no dog environment (even our own dog is not allowed to visit the salon when it is empty!).

Please do give as much information to us as possible before bringing your cat to visit us, but we will also assess the condition of their coat when you arrive for your appointment. During your first visit, we will assess the coat condition, health status and their behaviour. There are different ways to address knots and matts, depending on the severity and we will discuss these in detail with you before we begin a groom. The main objective of your visit to us is to ensure your cat leaves us feeling comfortable and looking better than when they arrive.

Although we can help if your cat has fleas, we ask that you visit your vet and have them professionally treated before we assist. Please also get a treatment for your home from the vet during your visit as there will be eggs ready to hatch and re-infest your cat around your house. Treating both your cat and your home at the same time is the only way to effectively address the problem.

We ask that you tell us if you know your cat can be aggressive. This behaviour includes growling, biting and scratching. If your cat becomes very aggressive during a groom, we may ask you to visit your vet to get a mild sedative prior to your next appointment which can reduce any possible stress during a groom.

At Feline Groovy, we pride ourselves in providing the best possible experience for your cat. This involves having two members of staff present throughout, both fully trained in handling cats during their groom.

We like to start grooming kittens after their final vaccinations and would advise you to give us a call at least 10 days after this. It is great to give your kitten the chance to come for a great spa day early in their life to get the opportunity to know it is a nice experience and to have no fear in the future.
We ask you to bring something from home with them for the first couple of visits which helps make them feel more secure.

Wow what can I say jeannette and nick! Tiddles had a very bad experience with a previous cat groomer so was very nervous when i dropped her off today however she came out with licky treats on her little chin and so much calmer! She need another session next week but wow what an improvement she feels and looks beautiful. Thank you both for restoring our faith in cat groomers again. We know she’s now in safe hands 🙌 ❤️

My long haired cat had got himself in a bit of a mess with small matted areas and general scruff which I was really struggling to keep on top off. He came back looking and smelling fantastic. I felt very confident in their ability and the studio is very calming. Mango was very at ease there and they did a fantastic job. We will be going back for regular maintenance which they offer to keep his coat looking and feeling tidy. So pleased to have a local place to come for cat only grooming. Thank you both.

Our 11 year old boy cat was had a fantastic grooming today! He was very relaxed and calm when I collected him. He usually really hates being groomed so this was a huge achievement! He looks fabulous now. Thanks so much!

I booked Lily, my grandparents long haired Persian, in with Nick and Jeannette. She’s brushed regularly but needed a proper groom and nail clipping. Jeanette did a fantastic job. Lily suffers with mild arthritis and wasn’t at all stressed as shown in the video. Will definitely be back for regular visits. Highly recommended.

I am so glad to have found Feline Groovy! My very mattered cat is lovely and silky after her full groom at Feline Groovy. Such a lovely and caring couple. I felt happy knowing she was in excellent hands. I have already booked in her next session with a Loyalty card. Thank you so much 😊

We took our very matted Maine coon who hates being brushed to Feline Groovy Cat Grooming Salon and wow, not only are the owners so lovely, they did such an amazing job on getting rid of the matts whilst also making her still look majestic and presentable. The grooming salon is in such a lovely, calm location and I can’t believe how well behaved my cat was during the process who normally runs a mile when she sees the hair brush and the same with the nail clippers!
Highly recommend to anyone with a high maintenance kitty that needs a bit of grooming. Thank you again so much, we will be back! 😻

I visited Groovy Cat Grooming Salon today, and I was impressed with their service. They put me at ease right away and clearly have a deep love for cats, along with a great understanding of their needs. My cats were a bit ‘spicy,’ but they took the time to help them calm down. They both look amazing now! I will definitely be using their services again. Thank you so much! x
